Forest Collaborative

The Southern Willamette Forest Collaborative (SWFC), like Oakridge Air, is project of the non-profit organization South Willamette Solutions (SWS). SWFC is a community-based forest collaborative group that brings together community members, elected officials, and community organizations as well as state and federal agencies to find forest management solutions for the Southern Willamette forest area. SWFC has partnered with Good Company in assisting with community outreach and education and the Community Firewood Program (CFP) and in acquiring firewood stock that would otherwise be burned as fuels reduction projects. Additionally, SWFC is working with Oakridge Air partners on a community smoke safety plan to prepare for community responses to wildfire, woodsmoke, and prescribed fire events. Finally, SWFC is coordinating efforts to make Oakridge a Firewise community by providing information and tracking volunteer hours spent making homes more prepared and resilient for wildfire events.
